Development

Philanthropy at Timber Ridge School plays a major role in our quality of life and treatment needs of the young men attending Timber Ridge School. Simply, without your charitable contributions, our programs could not improve and grow. Our physical plant continues to grow, as does our donor base. Since 1999, we have added three new residential units that are new homes for 52 Intake, Spruce and Sequoia students.

You may ask why do people give? Individuals are motivated by many reasons but maybe the most significant is that people can create change with their contributions. Donors also receive a “good feeling” when making a charitable contribution. And, yes, some donors are encouraged to make a gift for tax-deductible purposes when gifts are made to qualified 501(c)(3) non-profits like Timber Ridge School.

There are different ways to make a charitable contribution to Timber Ridge School. The majority of our gifts come through cash or checks for a specific purpose such as our most recent Charles A. Ricketts Memorial Gymnasium. Others make what is a called a “gift-in-kind” which are essentially a gift of product. Examples include clothing, back to school supplies, books, a sofa, and even tickets to a Baltimore Orioles baseball game and Washington Redskins football game. We also have received what is termed a “planned gift” when one of our long time donors passed away and left the School $157,000 in her trust.

If you have any questions or would like to explore a charitable gift opportunity please feel free to contact me.
