Athletics

Athletics at Timber Ridge School are an important part of our program. Our teams participate in an interscholastic schedule and compete against various public and private schools. After their stay at Timber Ridge, many athletes will return to their home community and play on their respective high school teams. Some of our athletes have even continued playing at the collegiate level.

The George B. Whitacre Family Park is the site for many of our athletic contests and recreational activities. This park includes a football and soccer field, baseball diamond and two asphalt tennis courts. All of our fields and courts meet the requirements established by the Virginia High School League. The football field is named after Mr. Ron McDole who last played professionally for the Washington Redskins and was affectionately known as “The Dancing Bear”. He returns to campus annually to present the Ron McDole Award to the school’s outstanding football player. The Whitacre Family Park provides a beautiful environment for our athletes to participate on their respective teams and hone their athletic skills.

Participation on our athletic teams teaches our students new ways to use their free time, the value of physical fitness, abiding by rules, teamwork, and cooperation. As many opposing coaches have remarked on more than one occasion, they do it admirably well.
